Enjoy New York City’s Kimchi Taco at Home

Have you heard of Kimchi Taco before? If you have, you're the winner who's ahead of the game. If you haven't, you've come to the right place where you can learn about Kimchi Taco by the time you get to the end of this post.

I'm sure you everyone is aware of what taco is, but Kimchi Taco is a fairly new fusion Korean dish that started to gain awareness and popularity from a Kimchi Taco food truck in New York City.

[Video clip of NYC Kimchi Taco Truck]

First of all, for those of you that are not familiar with Kimchi, Kimchi is known as the superfood of Korean cuisine. In fact, when it comes to a Korean dinner table, Kimchi is almost inseparable. Plus, Kimchi is something you would want to try and eat more often as it is a very healthy choice of vegetable filled with  vitamin A, vitamin C, calcium, iron, and much more. Ladies....Kimchi is also very low in calories!

With that said, would you be willing to try taco with fresh Kimchi and other Korean marinated meat on top? The mouth-watering photo below will give you the answer. Kimchi Taco has a perfectly balanced taste of all spicy, fresh and sweet. That's why it is so addicting.

My first homemade Kimchi Taco.

I wish I could fly to the New York City to try Kimchi Taco from the food truck, but I could not wait till then.
My first trial making Kimchi Taco at home was a success, and that means it's fairly easy to make it at home. The recipe for Kimchi Taco is very simple.

Ingredients:

-Beef/flank steak marinated with minced garlic, oyster sauce, sugar, and sesame oil
-Sliced Kimchi
-Canned/fresh tomatoes
-Green onions
-Sauce made with Sriracha or spicy mayo and some sour cream

Try out my very simple recipe and contact me or comment on this post for any questions or comments you might have! I hope you really like your homemade Kimchi Taco.

As always...

Korean BBQ 101 - How to Enjoy the Authentic Korean BBQ

Korean BBQ, something you'd experience only in Korea.

The most special thing about the Korean BBQ has to be all of the different side dish that add more taste to the Korean BBQ. Most of the times, these side dish are cold dish rather than hot dish, so that they go well with the grilled BBQ. The following photo shows some of the common side dishes that Koreans like to enjoy along with the Korean BBQ.

You might have noticed, from the photo above, the lettuce on the right upper hand corner. Lettuce plays a big role when eating Korean BBQ because it is a must-do for Koreans to wrap a small spoonful of rice, a bite-sized piece of meat, and a dab of special sauce inside a leaf of lettuce.

Like this:

How you grill the meat, whether it is pork belly or beef, does not really matter. Interesting though, Korean BBQ is slightly different in that pretty much anything can go on the grill---steamed egg, Kimchi, bean sprouts, mushrooms, onions, more veggies, soybean soup, etc.

You can always be creative and cook eggs inside onion rings like shown below :)

Korean BBQ I had in Korea from last summer

Lastly, on a side note, it is a very well-known fact that Soju (Korean alcohol) is supposed to be the perfect match when enjoying the Korean BBQ as Soju is known for its smoothness which helps with meat digestion as well as making the Korean BBQ experience even more authentic and complete.

Now, it is time for you to put "Eat Authentic Korean BBQ" on your bucket list, and try the Korean BBQ in a fun and authentic way!

We all need this, right now!

So supposedly......
in Japan, students get good grades and do well on their upcoming big exams
when they eat this red bean rice cake of some sort.
I wonder if Japanese students really trust this myth:)

They were very busy and the lines were so long
since it was exam period when I traveled to Japan.

Good luck on your finals, everyone!!

Flame my nigiri, please.

A cool, fun way of enjoying your nigiri. Agreed?

Trust me.
It just tastes better after you actually watch your nigiri being flamed right in front of you right before it goes into your drooling mouth.

A little secret dish to survive hot summer weather.

Cold Noodle (Naengmyun):

is a Korean cold noodle dish made of long and thin handmade noodles
made from the flour and starch of various ingredients.

This is one is normal flavor cold noodle. HOMEMADE!

This one is spicy cold noodle.

Both are great during summer!

FYI, Mirror of Korea restaurant has some good Naengmyun!
